We’re referring to water that contains a high amount of mineral sediment, also known as “hard water.” Few people realize it, but hard water can be so EXPENSIVE.

So if you have hard water, here are 3 ways that it’s costing you money:

What our clients say

There’s a reason Culligan of Northern Arizona is the best water treatment company in Prescott Valley with 5.0-Star Google Reviews.

Great service. Professional and communicative.
Great experience all the way! Fast service and installation. Very professional. Kevin is a great guy, kept me updated throughout the process. Valerie in the office is very friendly and communicates promptly. I definitely recommend this company! Great H2O now! Thank you!
You folks were great thanks you were very efficient and quick job well done, the wife is very happy to have her soft water back in service. Like they say happy wife happy life!!
had Kevin from Culligan out to talk about a Reverse osmosis water filter for the kitchen sink and ice maker in the fridge. There were two systems one with a tank and a bigger tankless unit that can make up to 600 gallons a day. We went with the tankless one. This was our Xmas present to us this year. Kevin came out a couple days later to do the install. He ran the water line through all the cabinets to the other side of the kitchen and hooked up to the existing line in the last cabinet next to the fridge for the ice cubes and cold water. . Then he went back to hooking up the lines under the sink, then installed the RO device also under the sink. About the size of a P.C. tower, fit nicely up against the wall inside the cabinet. He drilled the hole in the counter top for the faucet, for the dedicated drinking water and connected that. Then we were ready for some very clean tasting water. Some times our well water has a very slight musty smell , no more with the new filter. There is a little light array on the front of the faucet to monitor filter use so you don't have to crawl around under the sink. Kevin did a wonderful job,so if you are looking for a reliable source for clean water call Culligan.
Kevin is very professional, polite, excels in customer service
Great people. Really good soft water product.
Awesome experience. Felt like these guys were really honest with us answering our questions and concerns. Installation was quick. Glad we could give our business to locals.
I’m so glad there is a remedy for the hard water issues. Culligan has a good reputation and a long history in the industry of water treatment management. My experience with the franchise staff here in Prescott Valley was excellent. They answered all my questions regarding the different options available to treat the water, including financing options. They returned my phone calls and we’re very responsive. I also appreciated the military/veteran appreciation discount as this does help especially now with higher inflation. I did my own research comparing Culligan to another water treatment company that is available and recommended by Costco. The prices were pretty comparable between the two brands. I chose Culligan because this franchise is located here in Central Arizona, the staff was very responsive to my needs, the price was reasonable. Everything seemed to fit perfectly in the research, sales and installation of our water softener system. I highly recommend this system as it will reduce wear on your plumbing, and appliances. I noticed a big difference in the feeling of water and I’m sure I will have many years of good water quality with this company.
I needed to have my water softener replaced and I am so glad I went with Culligan! They replaced my old unit in less than two hours, cleaned everything up and took away the old unit. From the time I contacted them to completion of the job was less than one week.I would use them again! They have called me twice since installation just to make sure everything was perfect and to answer any questions I might have.A+++
Excellent response to all my questions and got me scheduled quickly. Installation went very well and done very cleanly. Kevin runs the business and is a great guy. He took care of the job personally. All and all it was a great experience.
Kevin Wood own the Culligan franchise for Prescott Valley and he is a true professional. We moved to PV six weeks ago and found out that the extreme hard water was calcifying our hot water heater. We needed a water softener and obtained multiple quotes. Culligan’s quote was $2000 less and the work that was done is immaculate. We ended up not only getting a water softening system, but also got a reverse-osmosis system under our sink for ultra pure drinking water. Both systems came in under where other quotes were. We’re EXTREMELY HAPPY, actually thrilled, with both the level of service we received and the systems we had installed.I highly recommend Culligan in Prescott Valley for anyone considering upgrading their water systems. 10 Stars!

#1 Hard Water Makes Your Appliances Less Efficient

Did you know that hard water is hard on your appliances?

It’s true.

Hard water can reduce the efficiency of your appliances by up to 48%, according to a study by the Water Quality Association (WQA). And that decrease in efficiency can lead to a 29% increase in your energy bills–costing you $1,500 or more over a 10-year period.

(And that’s just for your water heater. The same efficiency loss would affect your dishwasher and your washing machine.)

#2 Hard Water Forces You To Waste More Soap & Detergent

When you have hard water, you have to use more soap, detergent, and other cleaning products. Over time, this can become a significant expense.

Think about how much money you spend on dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent, bath & kitchen soap, lotions, and other household cleaners. Probably several hundred dollars a year, depending on the size of your family…and if you have hard water.

(That cost could be reduced by 75% or more with soft water.)

#3 Hard Water Reduces the Lifespan of Your Appliances

Hard water also causes a buildup of scale that can shorten the lifespan of your appliances by 30-50%!

In another WQA study, the heating elements inside water heaters using hard water failed after just 19 months. The water heaters using non-hard water lasted much longer—up to 15 years.

How Can You Tell if You Have Hard Water?

If you suspect you have hard water, here are some of the telltale signs to watch out for:
  • Mineral buildup in sinks, bathtumbs, and on your water fixtures
  • Spots on your dishes, glasses, and silverware that don’t come out in the dishwasher
  • Water heaters that fail sooner than they should
  • Soap scum in your bathtub or on your shower curtain/shower door
  • Faded clothing (especially clothes that used to be vibrant & colorful)
  • Dry, itchy skin and limp-looking hair
Or you can always contact Culligan to schedule a free water test. One of our technicians will come to your house and test your water for hardness and other contaminants.
